To prepare for a disaster recovery of Deduplication Disk Storage, a pre-disaster snapshot of the Deduplication Disk Storage must be made. The best practices document for Backup Exec states:
Perform regular backups of the deduplication disk storage device to removable media. Create this job separately from the backup job that you use to protect the rest of your system. In the backup selection list, the Backup Exec Deduplication Storage node is located under the User Data node under Shadow Copy Components.
A snapshot includes the folder and the contents of the folder.

Performing a disaster recovery of Deduplication Disk Storage
If a disaster occurs on the Backup Exec Server where a Deduplication Disk Storage is stored, the folder can be recovered after recovering the Backup Exec Server. Simplified Disaster Recovery does not recover the Deduplication Disk Storage during the recovery of the Backup Exec Server. The Deduplication Disk Storage must be recovered using the following procedure.
Note: If the Deduplication Disk Storage is recovered during the local recovery of the Backup Exec server using SDR, an alert appears with the steps required to recover the Deduplication Disk Storage. During the restore of Deduplication Disk Storage, the original Deduplication Disk Storage is deleted and replace with the restored folder.
NOTE: A redirected restore of Deduplication Disk Storage cannot be performed. A Deduplication Disk Storage must be restored to its original location.
