Cause
Redirected restores of VMware or Hyper-V virtual machines to network shares or locations are currently not supported. Redirected restores to a folder are only supported to local devices on the Backup Exec server.
Resolution
Run the redirected restore to a local device.
Issue/Introduction
When attempting to redirect the restore, to a network share, of either VMware .VMDK or Hyper-V .VHD(X) files from a backup set created by a virtual agent backup, the restore completes successfully but the data is not in the restored location.
Further Investigation shows that the data is restored to a location on the C: drive of the Backup Exec server instead.
