Description

Error

BEMSDK Failure Code : A0009B23

Cause

When the server name entered does not follow the vendor-unique format, or an incorrect logon account is selected, Backup Exec will not be able to validate the OST device.

Resolution

Ensure the OST credentials are correct.  Some OST vendors require a unique server name format other than hostname or fully qualified domain name of the server.  Here are some vendor-unique examples:

For Quantum and Fujitsu OST devices, the Server field should be filled in with the storage server name, underscore, and a fully qualified domain name or IP.

Example: Myopenstorageserver_DXisystem.acme.com

For ExaGrid OST devices, the Server field should be filled in with the ExaGrid site name.

Example: MySiteName

For more details on how to reference an OST appliance, please refer to the OST appliance vendor's support site or documentation.

Issue/Introduction

When configuring an OST device on Backup Exec, the server name field includes a description to enter the hostname or fully qualified domain name of the server. Not all OST vendors use this format. If entered improperly, an error will be generated when attempting to configure storage.
