Error Message

The job failed with the following error:
“Failed to mount the disks of the virtual machine”

A local installation of the Agent for Windows fails to install the vstor driver.
 

1. To determine if the driver is installed correctly, at a command prompt, type the following:
   
   sc query vstor2-mntapi10-shared
   
   If the driver is installed and running, the command returns the following information:
   
   
   
    
2. If the driver is not installed, do the following to install the driver:
   1. On the remote computer, go to the Backup Exec installation directory:
   2. \VMware\VixDiskLib\bin\
   3. Typically, this directory is \Progam Files\Symantec\Backup Exec
3. Right-click the vstor2-mntapi10-shared.inf file.
    
4. Select Install.
