Resolution

To disable AOFO:

1. On the Linux server where the Agent for Linux is installed, open the
ralus.cfg file in the following path:

   /etc/VRTSralus/ralus.cfg

2. Navigate to the following key:

   "Software\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\RALUS\DisableOFO=0"

3. Change the value of "DisableOFO=0" to "1" so that it now reads as "DisableOFO=1".

4. Save the ralus.cfg file.

5. Restart Remote Agent for Linux/Unix Servers (RALUS) daemons by running the following command,
    /etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init restart

Note: The default value of the "DisableOFO=" key is "0", meaning AOFO is enabled by default.

Issue/Introduction

The Agent for Linux's Advanced Open File Option (AOFO) does not support Novell OES systems. To successfully complete backup jobs of Novell OES systems without exceptions being generated, disable AOFO on the Linux server in which the Agent for Linux is installed.

Note: By disabling AOFO, the "Use snapshot technology option" option will be invalid for all backup jobs that target that particular Linux Agent. As a result, those backup jobs are processed as they normally would be without the use of AOFO.
