Error E1AD3BB6 'Cannot validate the recovery point destination for file (UMI:V-281-429-15286)  

Cause

This issue is caused by various factors. Corruption of the image file, insufficient privileges of credentials performing the task, or high ASCII code characters use within the image's password may cause this issue.

 

Resolution

Due to the many factors that could cause this issue, please review the steps listed below and follow the appropriate directions:

  • Re-enter the password for the image file within the imaging task attempted to be performed. If the error persist, verify the same symptom occurs on a second system capable of performing the desired image task.
  • Launch All Programs | Veritas | Veritas System Recovery | Security Configuration Tool and add the current local/domain Administrator account being used to attempt the imaging task. Give the full control privilege to the account. Reattempt the imaging task.
  • Attempt to open the recovery point in the Recovery Point Browser (RPB). RPB can be launched by simply double clicking on the *.v2i file in Windows Explorer. If a new error occurs note the error and follow the steps outline in the Veritas Technical Support article document specific to that error.
  • Attempt to restore the image to a test or virtual system. If successfully recovered, take a new image and try the imaging task with that new image. If however a new error occurs during the restore attempt note the error and follow the steps outline in the Veritas Technical Support article document specific to that error.
  • If possible, recreate the image using a lower compression level and a password with no high ASCII characters (e.g. Characters like ! #$%&^)

 

Issue/Introduction

When attempting to perform a one time virtual conversion, or other similar image task, of a password protected image file the following error occurs and the task fails.
