Description
Error Message
Error 00000047: No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept.
Error FILEACCESS_ERROR_CONNECT_NETWORK (E7D10041): Unable to establish a network connection to \\ServerName\ShareName.
Error 00000047: No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept.
Cause
The Veritas System Recovery service maintains is connection to the share because it needs to 'watch' the share to check for any changes (i.e. if/when a recovery point file is deleted or moved).
This connection will only be 'dropped' when either the Veritas System Recovery service is stopped/restarted or when the client machine is shutdown/restarted.
Resolution
WORKAROUNDS
- For the backup destination, use a server or appliance that supports more simultaneous connections.
- Enable more CALs (Client Access Licenses) on the backup destination server.
- Create a batch file to restart the Veritas System Recovery service (VProSvc.exe) before/after the backup.
- Reboot client machines periodically to clear out CIFS connections.
Issue/Introduction
Veritas System Recovery (VSR) successfully backs up to a network share but then maintains its connection to the share indefinitely. After too many VSR clients have backed up, the backup destination server reaches its limit for simultaneous CIFS sessions and rejects additional connections. Backups then start failing with the following errors:
