The .identity file located at \Storage\Data is either corrupt or not present
Note : \Storage refers to Path of Deduplication Storage Folder

Solution 1:

Confirm that there is a dedup folder that is being used on the devices tab and that it is functioning.  If the folder is not coming online correctly or it does not exist within devices tab then follow the directions found in this article: How to move the Deduplication Storage Folder database into a Backup Exec Deduplication Storage Folder:

Solution 2:

1. Open command prompt
2. Change Directory to Backup Exec Install Path
3. Execute the following command :
4. spoold.exe --genidentity

Note: Postgresql service should be running while the above command is being executed. The above should create that file in \Storage\Data folder. Start the Backup Exec Deduplication Engine Service.
