Error Message

Errors seen in the Windows application event logs:

25032: _dsVerifyContainerHeader: header of container 5381 does not match

25032: Could not initialize DataStore Manager

26016: Store Manager: Activate failure.

1: The spoold service could not start in a timely fashion. The service is currently in a stopped state and returned an exit status of 0 to the Service Control Manager.

 

A spoold.exe --trace also returns:

Error [0000000000D2A360]: 25032: _dsVerifyContainerHeader: header of container 5381 does not match
Error [0000000000D2A360]: 25032::Cannot start deduplication service (spoold.exe)   

Note: The container number i.e. '5381' in the above error can be different. 

Backup Exec Deduplication Engine i.e. spoold.exe uses the information stored in the files under /Storage/data/journal during start up for performance purpose. After changing the size of the deduplication storage volume, or if it goes unexpectedly offline, the information in these files may be corrupted or outdated leading to this issue.

Rename or remove the below files from the deduplication storage location and then restart the Backup Exec Deduplication Engine service.

 /Storage/data/journal/datastore.hdr  and 
 /Storage/data/journal/datastore.hdr_tlog 

Note : Backup Exec Deduplication Engine may take longer to start when the above files are removed.
