Network diagnostics help identify issues with network performance between two systems.
This tool does not require an install and does not make any changes to the system.
It is required to send the diagnostic data package to your Veritas Engineer, who will then communicate the results once they have received and analyzed the data package.





If requested by your Veritas Engineer, enter values for Number of Packets to Send and Packet Size.
* If needed, specify the Number of Runs and the Run Delay.
* If needed, specify a Start Date and Start Time to schedule the diagnostics to run at a later time.
Note: Leave the Number of Packets to Send and Packet Size fields blank to use their default values. Leave the Number of Runs and Run Delay fields empty to run the diagnostics once. Leave the Start Date and Start Time fields empty to start the diagnostics immediately.
Click Next


Once the diagnostics have completed, select an option for providing the results to your Veritas Engineer, then click Next

If you selected Create a new support case or Upload results to an existing support case, when prompted, enter your Veritas account credentials, then click Log In. Follow the directions on the screen to provide the diagnostic data to Veritas.
If you selected Save results to disk and manually provide to Veritas Support, VQA will notify you of where the data is saved in .vdbz format. Please navigate to the Veritas Support website, click My cases and attach this data package to your Veritas Support case.
Note: Diagnostic results will be communicated by a Veritas Engineer after the data package has been received and analyzed.
./vqacollector vnit
Enter one or more target hostnames or IP addresses. Diagnostics will be run between the system running the Linux Network Tool and each of the target hosts. Multiple target hosts can be specified by listing them separated with a comma (ex. 10.10.10.2,10.10.10.5,10.10.10.9)

If requested by your Veritas Engineer, enter values for Number of packets to send during execution and Size of packet/buffer to send in bytes. If not specified by your Veritas Engineer, press enter for these two questions to accept the default values.

Note: Size of packet/buffer to send in bytes will accept values between 1 and 65507
Press Enter to accept the default Data Collection Output Directory. Diagnostic results will be stored in a folder called DataCollectionResults in the same folder as the vnit application.

Unless otherwise specified by your Veritas Engineer, press Enter to accept the default value to Process time out in minutes.

If you would like to schedule the diagnostics to run at a later date and time, enter the date and time in the format mm:dd:yyyy hh:mm:ss

If you would like to start the diagnostics immediately, press Enter to accept the default value

If running the diagnostics multiple times as specified in the previous step, specify the delay between the runs in the format hh:mm:ss. Otherwise, press Enter to accept the default value.

Wait for the diagnostics to complete.

Change directories to DataCollectionResults. Provide the .vnit file in this folder to your Veritas Engineer by navigating to the Veritas Support website. Then click My cases and attach this data package to your Veritas Support case.

Use the following command line options to run the Linux Network Tool

Syntax: ./vnit -i
Example: ./vnit -i ens32 -t 192.168.10.102
Once the diagnostics are complete, please find the .vnit file, located in the DataCollectionResults directory and provide it to your Veritas Engineer by navigating to the Veritas Support website. Then click My cases and attach this data package to your Veritas Support case.
