Backup Exec Device and Media Service service terminates with error 536928979
 

Windows could not start the Backup Exec Device & Media Service on Local Computer. For more information, review system event log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to the service specific error code 536928979 
 
Application Event Logs show the following errors:
  
 
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Backup Exec
Event Category: None
Event ID: 58065
Description:
The Backup Exec Device and Media Service cannot start because it detected a database schema version mismatch. 
 

Resolution

Note : Take a Backup of Data and Catalogs folder before performing these steps.  

1. Open a command prompt on the Backup Exec Server
2. Perform BEMIG as per steps in Technical article - 100018032
3. Start Backup Exec Device and Media & other services.
