Resolution

The issue may be resolved by trying any of the following:

  1. If multiple backup sets are being cataloged, try to catalog only one media at a time.
  2. Open the Windows Task Manager and verify that there is only one instance of BENGINE.EXE running under the Processes.  If so, try to stop and then restart all of the Backup Exec Services.
  3. Run the Backup-to-Disk (B2D) test tool:https://www.veritas.com/docs/000039066
  4. Perform a repair install of Backup Exec.
  5. Use BEUtility to repair the Backup Exec database: https://www.veritas.com/docs/000010426
  6. Disable Use fast file restore and Use fast file append: https://www.veritas.com/docs/100016681
  7. Disable IPV6: support.microsoft.com/kb/325449
  8. Check the fragmentation level where the files are stored and defrag the volume if it is needed.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, make sure that Backup Exec has the latest files installed by running VeritasUpdate and also update the storage controller drivers.
