Dell EqualLogic PS is a Modular Array, consisting of SCSI hard drives in Raid configuration, which are divided in LUN's so that they can be used on servers in a network for various applications .It's main features include fault tolerant, fully redundant, hot-swappable components (i.e: disks, controllers, network interfaces, power supplies, and cooling fans) , self-tuning, battery-backed, mirrored controller caches; hot sparing; support for RAID 5/10/50 . Dell EqualLogic PS consists of Auto Snapshot manager which accounts for taking Application aware snapshots, these application aware snapshots are stored in the PS Series and cataloged historically, capturing the state of the application data at the point in time at which snapshot was taken. This allows administrators to create and access a catalog of multiple recovery points.
Steps :
1. Mount these snapshots on the Backup Exec Media server and assign a drive letter.
2. Perform a back up of the assigned drive to a external storage device (like Tape libraries or Backup to disk devices).
Note: This will additionally help in improving the rate/speed of the servers being backed up as snapshot would be taken by the PS Series.
