Resolution
A backup job can potentially hang when updating the history due to corruption in the physical history files.
To resolve the issue, take the following steps:
(1) In Task Manager, stop VPROTRAY.EXE
(2) In Windows Services, stop the Veritas System Recovery service (VPROSVC.EXE).
(3) Use Windows explorer to remove *.PQJ files located in the
X:\Program Data\Veritas\Veritas System Recovery\Schedule
(Where X:\ is the drive in which VSR is installed)
(4) Use Windows explorer to remove *.PQH files located in the
X:\Program Data\Veritas\Veritas System Recovery\History
(Where X:\ is the drive in which VSR is installed)
(5) In Windows Services, start the Veritas System Recovery service (VPROSVC.EXE).
(6) Use Windows explorer to start VPROTRAY.EXE located in the \Program Files\Veritas\Veritas System Recovery\Agent sub-folder.
(7) Start Veritas System Recovery and recreate the backup job.
*Note: Since the history files were removed, the next backup performed will be a Base Recovery Point.
