Description

Error Message

Failed to restore. Error reading source file. Attemped to decrypt with bogus header.
Failed to restore. Error reading source file. Decryption key is invalid. The desktop agent will remain disabled until the problem has been corrected by your administrator. V-139-52224-20180 or V-138-52224-20180

Resolution

When the Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) is installed and DLO runs for the first time, a prompt to create a Recovery Password occurs. Using this password, an Administrator will be able to manually restore the user data from the NUDF (Network User Data Folder) using the "Emergency Restore" switch of the DLOCommandu.exe utility per the following steps:

1. From a command prompt (Start>Run>CMD) change to the Veritas DLO folder X:\Program Files\Veritas\Veritas DLO\.

2.  Type DLOCommandu.exe -EmergencyRestore -W -AP and press Enter.

Example: DLOCommandu.exe -EmergencyRestore "\\ServerName\DLOStorage\DomainName-UserName\.dlo" -W myp@ssword -AP x:\restoreddata

OR

DLOCommandu.exe -EmergencyRestore "\\ServerName\DLOStorage\DomainName-UserName\.dlo" -W myp@ssword -AP \\ServerName\restoreddata

Note: This is the path to the .recovery or .recovery2 file

If the command above fails with the decryption error, it is because a new database (DLO DB) has been created and the user has been re-added to the new database.  The user will be able to see and restore the old data, but the encryption key for the user will be different now and the data restored will be unusable.
