Description

Error Message

"Failed to access SERVER. Access is denied. Please select a logon account from the list:"

Cause

This behavior occurs when the user running the Remote Admin console does not have the "Log on locally" privilege enabled on the Media Server.

Example:

If the logon account such as Domain\User is set to be the "Default logon account" on the Remote Admin Console, then it will go through a repetitive cycle of prompts asking the user for the correct credentials.

Resolution

A logon account (Domain\User) on the Remote Admin Console fails to access the resources in a different domain when the account is set to "Default logon account." Backups fail with the following error: (Figure 1).

Figure 1:

Make sure the logon account on the Remote Admin Console is not set to be the "Default logon account." If it is set to be the default logon account, then assign the user account "Log on locally" rights on the Media Server. Refer to Microsoft documentation for enabling "Log on locally" rights on an account.
