AOFO: Initialization failure on: "Shadow?Copy?Components". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Snapshot provider error (0xE0008516): Resources specified for snapshot do not have any valid data on them. Check if files were deleted or renamed.

Cause
This error message is received if "Shadow Copy Components" is not selected properly in the job setup. This can happen if "Include subdirectories" is not selected before selecting "Shadow Copy Components" and then the check mark in "Shadow copy components" is seen as slash instead of a complete check. (Figure 1)
This error message is also received if "Shadow Copy Components" are selected for a resource but that data is not available on the resource.

If "Include subdirectories" is not selected, the following result is seen on expanding "Shadow Copy Components." (Figure 2)

This result indicates that "Shadow Copy Components" is not selected completely.
Resolution
1.In order to resolve this issue, "Shadow Copy Components" should have a complete check mark. This can be achieved by selecting "
Include subdirectories" and then selecting "
Shadow Copy Components" resulting in a selection as shown below: (Figure 3)

Once "Shadow Copy Components" is completely checked, backup operations should run successfully.
