Description

Error Message

"Logon attempt with current password failed with the following error: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer".

Cause

This problem occurs if the user account specified to be the Backup Exec (tm) service account loses one of the required rights, such as Logon As a Service or Logon Locally, due to group policies. Once the user credentials are back in place, the services will start properly.

Resolution

Step 1:

On a Domain Controller:
If the user is a member of an Active Directory domain, add the missing rights within the Group Policy Editor snap-in.

How to define the required user rights for a Backup Exec Service Account (BESA) in Default Domain Controller Group Policy object - https://www.veritas.com/docs/000008077

On a Local Computer:
If the user is on a stand-alone Windows, follow these steps:

1. Log on to the computer as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group
2. Start the Local Computer Policy snap-in
3. Expand Local Computer Policy, expand Computer Configuration, expand Windows Settings, and then expand Security Settings
4. Expand Local Policies, and then click User Rights Assignment
5. In the right pane, right-click Log on as a service, and then click Properties
6. Click Add User or Group, add the necessary user to the policy, and then click OK twice
7. Close the Local Computer Policy snap-in

Step 2:

Make sure that the SQL service is running in the media server

If it is so, then start the SQL service under Local System Account
