The Backup Exec Device and Media Service terminated with the following error: The database specified does not exist.

Cause
This issue (Figure 1) will occur if the following conditions are met:
1. The Backup Exec services and the SQL Server(BKUPEXEC) service utilize the same service account.
2. The password is changed for the service account and the SQL Server(BKUPEXEC) service login is not updated to reflect the password change.
The password of the service account should be updated in the login of the SQL Server(BKUPEXEC) service whenever the service account password is changed.
Resolution
To change the SQL Server(BKUPEXEC) login information, perform the following steps:
1. Open the Windows Services Applet
2. Select
SQL Server(BKUPEXEC) and double-click to bring up the service properties (Figure 2)

3. Change the password to reflect the new service account password (Figure 3)

4. Restart the SQL Server(BKUPEXEC) service after changing the password
5. Restart the Backup Exec services
