Each version of Backup Exec is designed to be compatible with a certain number of legacy versions of Backup Exec, the Remote Agent or Agent for Windows for upgrades. This information can be found in the Administrator's Guide for each version.
Resolution
Uninstall the Backup Exec Agent for Windows or Backup Exec Remote Agent from Add/Remove Programs and then retry the installation of the agent.
Issue/Introduction
When attempting to perform a push or local installation of the Backup Exec Remote Agent or Agent for Windows, the error will be returned if there is an older version of the agent already present on the system that is not supported by the version of the Backup Exec agent that is being installed.
