If the backup image is opened using the SharePoint Documents tab in Granular Restore Option (GRO) for Symantec System Recovery (SSR), the following error is displayed:

Unable to find SharePoint image file.

Cause

This error occurs while executing pre-backup. The VProSvc service runs with the LOCAL SYSTEM user account that does not have the sysadmin role in the SQL Database.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the SQL Server Management console.
  2. Go to Security > Logins > NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.
  3. Right-click the SYSTEM user name and click Properties.
  4. In the Properties dialog box, on the left pane, click Go To Server Roles.
  5. Select the sysadmin checkbox and click OK.
  6. Run the backup job again.

This issue occurs when Microsoft SharePoint is installed and the Symantec System Recovery service (VProSvc.exe) runs with an account which does not have the sysadmin role in the SQL Database.

Note: Starting with Service Pack 5  for Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 (11.1.5) and in all versions of Veritas System Recovery, granular restore of SharePoint items is no longer supported.

Issue/Introduction

If you define a backup for a volume where SharePoint is installed, the metadata information files are not generated.
