ERROR:0xe0000f04 - The Backup Exec server could not connect to the remote computer
Cause
When configuring SQL Availability Groups, a SQL Listener is configured for the front end application to use when connecting to SQL. When the Backup Exec Sharepoint agent queries Sharepoint for its SQL server name the Listener name is returned but the Sharepoint agent is not able to resolve the 'real' SQL server name from this Listener name and the connection fails.
Resolution
Although the listed versions of SharePoint Server support databases on SQL Always On Availability Group, the Backup Exec Agent for SharePoint Server does not support this configuration
Workaround:
Use utitlites within SQL or Sharepoint to backup the affected databases and then, if required, use Backup Exec to protect the output from these utilities.
