Cause
The Backup Exec user interface limits the number of items that display in a single folder.
Resolution
To restore the items, do one of the following:
- Restore the folder that contains the items to a .PST file and then move the items back to the mailbox in the Exchange Server.
- Use the Backup Exec Search Wizard to find the items.
Note: search may not work if Instant GRT was used for disk based backups.
To use the Backup Exec Search Wizard to find the items:
- On the Backup and Restore tab, right-click the server on which you want to search for data, and then click Search.
- In the Search Wizard select Microsoft Exchange mailbox items located through Search, and then click Next.
- In the Type field, select the type of item to restore.
- In the Backup time, select the check boxes to enter the time for the backup job.
- Complete the additional fields to complete the search criteria (i.e. folder path and\or item names. Partial strings and * wildcard are accepted).
- Click Search.
- Select the check box for the database to restore, and then click Next.
- Select the location where to restore the message, and then click Next.
- Select Overwrite existing mail messages and folders if the item still exists on the current location, and then click Next.
- Select additional tasks to perform before and/or after the restore, and then click Next.
- In the Name field, type a name for the job.
- Select the schedule options for the job.
- Click the Submit job on hold check box to create the job with and On Hold status, and then click Next.
- Click Finish.
Issue/Introduction
The Backup Exec Restore Wizard does not display all of the items for a backup job that includes a mailbox that contains more than 30k items such as mails, contacts, and tasks in a single folder.
