Cause

This problem is caused because of the mismatch in the way the usernames are defined on the Backup Exec servers installed on a non-English operating system. For example, in Russian, the default administrator account is 'администратор'. When this Backup Exec server tries to connect to the registry of the remote Backup Exec server, the connection fails because of the mismatch in the administrator account user name.

Resolution

1. On the Backup Exec server installed on a non-English operating system, create a new user with the name “Administrator” with administrative rights.

Note: This workaround assumes that “Administrator” is the account used to install the Backup Exec server on the remote machine. If you have used a different account to install Backup Exec server, use that account name.

2. Log in to the non-English Backup Exec server with this new user name.

3. Add the remote Backup Exec server to the Backup Exec Utility running locally

On the other hand, if your local Backup Exec server is installed on an English operating system, create a new user with the same administrative account used to install the remote Backup Exec server on a non-English Operating system. Log in to the English Backup Exec server with this account and add the remote Backup Exec server.
