Error Message

The following exceptions are generated in the backup job log:

V-79-57344-38732 - Virtual machine 'ServerName' does not meet the requirements necessary for Backup Exec to restore individual application items. You cannot perform GRT-enabled restores of application data from this backup.

Note: This is the generic exception message which is generated when any virtual machine fails to meet at least one of the requirements necessary for Backup Exec to restore individual application items. The solution can vary based on the next exception in the job log.

V-79-40960-38528 - The Hyper-V subsystem has reported that the Hyper-V Integration Services (HIS) inside the virtual machine do not match the version expected by the Hyper-V host.  An offline backup of this virtual machine has been performed, update the Hyper-V Integration Services to ensure online backups can be performed whenever possible.

HEX error code - 0xA0009680

The above exception message can be followed by another exception as below (Note: This is again a generic exception which can be generated if  Backup Exec has to backup a virtual machine using an offline backup. In this case, the reason is HIS version not matching the version expected by the Hyper-V host):

V-79-57344-38769 - Virtual machine 'ServerName' was backed up using an offline backup, therefore the VHD / VHDX files are only crash consistent. File-level recovery can be performed, but results may be unpredictable. Application-level recovery cannot be performed for this virtual machine.

HEX error code - 0xE0009771

Hyper-V Integrated Services (HIS) inside the virtual machine do not match the version expected by the Hyper-V host. This will not allow Backup Exec to perform Application-level GRT backups, hence will not allow the user to perform Application-level recovery for this virtual machine.

Note: File-level recovery can be performed using this backup set, but results may be unpredictable.

In order to be able to perform File-level and/or Application-level recovery for the virtual machine(s) in question:

• Update the Hyper-V Integration Services (HIS) to ensure online backups can be performed whenever possible.
• Ensure the backup job completes successfully.
