Error Message

Unable to load configuration information.
Retrieveing the COM class factory for component with CLSID{69C#E4B8ACC2-41F0-85D6-403C53A9A38D} failed due to the following error 8007007e.
The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E).

Cause

This issuec can occur if Microsoft .NET Framework is attempting to load the System Recovery console (VProConsole.exe) using 32-bit modules on a 64-bit operating system. VProConsole.exe is a native 64-bit .NET application and it should work as a 64-bit application on 64-bit OS rather than a 32-bit application. The .NET Framework registry key Enable64Bit should be present. Otherwise, this error can occur.

Resolution

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.

  1. Open regedit.exe
  2. Go to key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework”
  3. Check if the DWORD registry value by name “Enable64Bit” exists. If not, create a new DWORD with the value Enable64Bit.
  4. Change the “Value Data” to 1.
  5. Reboot the system.
  6. Launch the console.
