Error Message

Backup Exec is unable to create deduplication disk storage on the virtual disk. A mount point could not be established for the virtual disk because the required directory is not empty.

SGMON Logs shows -

PVLSVR: [07/12/13 09:18:52] [9244] [VirtualDisk::ConfigurePDDEDataStore()] Configure PDDE failed: 0xe0009b31 

PVLSVR: [07/12/13 09:18:52] [9244] [StorageManager::ConfigurePDDEDataStore()] Unable to configure disk as a PDDE data store: 0xe0009b31

Cause

 Pre-settings for the Appliance still exist.

Resolution

1. Try formatting the virtual disk if no Previous data exist.

OR

2. Go to path C:\program files\Symantec\Backup exec\PDDE_volume and delete the mount point PDDE_volume

Note - PDDE_Volume is the mount point which is created when the old virtual disk existed for deduplication.

Gets the Error - Backup Exec is unable to create deduplication disk storage on the virtual disk. A mount point could not be established for the virtual disk because the required directory is not empty, when tried to configure Deduplication folder for DELL appliance.
