Cause

The Deduplication Engine Service has a time out period that when triggered will cause a failure to start. Because of the various components in environments; the time out period may be insufficient and more time may be required.

Resolution

Increased the PDDE configuration to 20 minutes.

1. Stop all Backup Exec services
2. Set registry DWORD value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Backup Exec For
Windows\Adamm\PDDEServiceStartTimeout
= 1200000 
3. Start all Backup Exec services
