Cause

One of two scenarios could have caused this error. The backup sources may contain both NTFS and CSV files. Or you are trying to back up a Hyper-V virtual machine that has some files that reside on a CSV and some files that do not reside on a CSV.

Resolution

You must process NTFS and CSV volumes one at a time in order for the backup to be successful. If the backup sources contain both NTFS and CSV files, select the “Process logical volumes for backup one at a time” option in the Advanced File options. Then retry the job.

For Hyper V VM and physical machine:

  • If the backup sources contain both NTFS and CSV files, select the Process logical volumes for backup one at a time option in the Advanced File options.
  • Choosing the above option will allow backup of source which has both NTFS and CSV files

For VMware VM:
The above solution was not working for Cluster which has VMware VM.  In order to backup a VMware VM node the disk format must be either CSV or  NTFS.
