Backup Exec Private Cloud Services is intended for Backup Exec partners who are interested in offering managed backup services to their customers. Backup Exec Private Cloud Services works within the partner's datacenter as a "private cloud" configuration. Managed service providers (MSP) can provide backups over the Internet to a private cloud as an alternative to tape. Backups are encrypted and deduplicated. Additionally, Backup Exec Private Cloud Services allows users to perform backups directly to the cloud and restore full or granular information directly from the cloud.

Backup Exec Private Cloud Services is also intended for customers with widely distributed networks who are interested in sending and storing duplicate backup copies to disk and tape within a central datacenter location.
