This issue can occur if the selection list is NOT using Hyper-V dynamic Inclusion and the selection list contains a virtual machine(s) that were specially selected and have now been renamed or removed in Hyper-V manager.
Example: In Hyper-V manager a virtual machine is given the name of "ServerA". A backup job is created and under the Hyper-V agent selection "ServerA" virtual machine is specifically selected rather than selecting the entire Microsoft Hyper-V HA Virtual Machines or Microsoft Hyper-V selection to enable dynamic inclusion.
Backup Exec's dynamic inclusion feature protects new virtual machines and folders that are found when a backup job runs. If you select the host node, then dynamic inclusion is enabled automatically for the Microsoft Hyper-V node. If you select the cluster name node, then dynamic inclusion is enabled automatically for the Microsoft Hyper-V HA Virtual Machines node.
If the Virtual machine has been renamed in Hyper-V manager edit the selection list in "text view" also known as "View Selection Detail" and remove the invalid entry. Switch back to the graphical view of the selection list "View by Resource" and select the renamed virtual machine name.
If the Virtual machine has been delete in Hyper-V manager edit the selection list in "text view" also known as "View Selection Detail" and remove the invalid entry.
