Error Message

0xe0009583: An error was encountered while attempting to browse the contents of .  Cannot connect to virtual center or host.

 

Cause

1. A port conflict to the VCenter Server

- Symptoms: 

Unable to access the ESX from the selection as it freezes.

 

 2. An old server may be still in the selection list 

- Symptoms: 

Jobs appear successful but still contain the error  

Newly configured backup jobs do not hrow this error

 

3. Heavy load on the ESX server 

- Symptoms:

VIC will not connect and throws an error. 

"VMware Infrastructure Client could not establish the initial connection with server "xyz". Details: The server took too long to respond"
 
"VMware Infrastructure Client could not establish a connection with server "xyz". Details: Timeout retrieving server inventory"

 

 

Resolution

1.  Verify Backup Exec has the correct port configured to connect to VCenter
 
 
2. Clean old server names and IP address out of the existing selection lists
-Open the backup job
-Click View Selection Details
-Delete any selections that are not valid.  
 
3. Reduce I\O load on VMWare servers
 

Applies To

Backup Exec throws this error when it cannot connect to the Vcenter or ESX server.
