Resolution

1. From the Backup Exec installation directory, double-click tapeinst.exe.

The default location is X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec.

2. Click next on the welcome screen, then select Use Plug and Play drivers and click next. (Figure 2)

3. Verify that all your devices are displayed in the Hardware Scan. Click Next to install the drivers. (Figure 3)

4. A Windows Security window will appear telling you that Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software. This is a standard Microsoft Windows warning. System and driver performance will not be affected, and you can safely ignore the messages. Veritas device drivers go through a similar testing process and they are digitally signed drivers. (Figure 4)

5. Click Next to complete the installation. (Figure 5)

6. After the installation is complete, restart the Backup Exec services.
