Error Message

V-79-57344-38150 -  Error Code: E_EV_TOPOLOGY_DOCUMENT_NOT_FOUND - 0xE0009506L - "An error occurred while obtaining the XML file for information about the Agent for Enterprise Vault components."

Cause

The Enterprise Vault Agent communicates with the Enterprise Vault Admin and/or Accelerator services to determine the Enterprise Vault hierarchy, which is also known as the topology.
This error may appear if the Enterprise Vault Agent fails to determine the topology.

Resolution

Issue 1: The Enterprise Vault Admin or the Accelerator services are running, but they failed to generate a topology document.
Action:
By default, the Enterprise Vault Agent waits two minutes after requesting the topology document. If Enterprise Vault does not generate the topology within two minutes, adjust the time required to return the topology to Enterprise Vault as required:

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
  • Open the registry editor and browse to the following location:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\veritas\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\EVAgent\Settings\TopologyDocReadTimeOut

Change the value in the following key TopologyDocReadTimeOut
  • Stop and restart the Backup Exec Remote Agent Service

Note:  Values are represented in minutes.
Issue 2: MSXML is not up to date.
Action: The Enterprise Vault Agent uses MSDOM to load the topology document. Make sure the latest version of MSXML is installed.
Issue 3: The topology document is created but it is corrupt.
Action: Delete the existing evbackup.xml file located in the EV Reports folder then cycle the Backup Exec Agent for Windows.  This will prompt the creation of a new evbackup.xml.
