Description

Error Message

You do not have permission to read the contents of the log folder '\\\\.dlo\\.logs'

Cause

The information displayed in the History tab of the administration console is read from the \\.dlo\\.logs directory of the Network User Data Folder (NUDF).  In order for the console to read those logs, the account used to run the console must have rights to those logs.  By default, the console uses the user account that was used to log onto the computer.

Resolution

Ensure that the user account being used to open the administration console has rights to the \\.dlo\\.logs directory of the NUDF.

In some cases, the account used may have full permission to this folder, however DLO verifies the permissions with the Domain Controller (DC).  If there is a problem accessing the DC or if the File and Print Sharing ports on the DC are blocked by a firewall, this error will also occur.

Alternately, run the DLO Console as a local administrator account. This can be done by right clicking on the 'BackupExec DLO Console' shortcut and choosing 'run as'. A shortcut to the DLO Console can be created by browsing to the "..\Backup Exec\DLO" folder and creating a shortcut to the file named "DLOConsoleu.exe".

Set correct permissions on the below registry key.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002be10318}\Properties

Use Process Monitor and search for Access Denied entries to troubleshoot this error if the above solutions do not work.
