Error Message
Generic Error: Unable to connect to SQL server
Specific Error: Failed to configure SQL instance Servername\Instance_name instance to allow updates during Upgrade or pointing the installation to another instance.
Resolution
1. Click on the Start Button, and then the Run Command
2. In the Run command type "cliconfg". (Without the quotations).
3. Click on TCP/IP and then Named Pipes and then Click Enable.
4. Click on Apply and Ok.
5. Retry Installation/Upgrade.
Issue/Introduction
The TCP/IP protocol or Named Pipes is disabled, causing communication failure during SQL installation while upgrade or installation of Backup Exec.
