Could not start the Backup Exec DLO Maintenance Service on Local Computer
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Cause
There are at least two causes of this error:
- If the process "dlomaintsvcu.exe" is already running on the system.
- If a .DLL file is missing from the "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\DLO"
Resolution
Follow one of the solutions mentioned below to resolve this issue:
- Open Task Manager for Windows and find if "dlomaintsvcu.exe" is running.
If the process "dlomaintsvcu.exe" is already running, end the process and try starting the service again.
- Open the path "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\DLO" (Or the path that Backup Exec is installed to) and run "dlomaintsvcu.exe".
A new window should pop up stating what file is missing.
If a window does show what file is missing, run a repair install of Backup Exec to replace the missing file.
