1. Try rebooting the Exchange server

2. If the issue persist contact Microsoft to investigate further issue related to the replication writer

To make the backup work without replication writer

Select Backup from active copy only from exchange option under High Availability Server

3. Update the Exchange 2010 server installation to the latest rollup update and service pack level. In addition, update the Exchange Management Console on the media server.
