Resolution

After Backing up the System State on a Domain Controller using the Backup Exec for Windows Active Directory Option,  the Domain Controller (OU) Organizational Unit is missing from Granular Restore Technology (GRT) restore selections (Figure 1).   In (Figure 2) which represents the Active Directory Management Console the Domain Controller OU is listed.  In (Figure 1) of the Backup Exec Active Directory GRT restore selection the Domain Controllers OU is not present.

(Figure 2) Active Directory Management Console

The Domain OU is an Active Directory domain partition that includes a "Domain Controllers" naming context where the domain controller computer objects reside.  Backup Exec will not display the Domain OU in the Active Directory Recovery Option GRT restore selection to prevent the relative identifier (RID-SET) child objects from being restored since it could cause RID's to be reused. This is by design.

If restoring the Domain OU objects is desired Microsoft Support should be contacted for assistance and guidelines. Backup Exec's System State (Entire System State backup/restore set) can be used with Microsoft's assistance.
