Error Message
Error E7B70001: Win32/Win64 API DeviceIoControl(IOCTL_VSNAP_SET_SNAP_VOLUMES) failed. Error EBAB03F1: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
Resolution
Step 1: Check the cluster size of the volumes being backed up by System Recovery (SR). In order for SR backup snapshots to perform properly, the volume should be the default volume size (see
https://mskb.pkisolutions.com/kb/140365 ). If the volume is not of a default sector size:
- Move data from off of the volume until you get to a point where SR will backup the data.
- Allow Windows to manage the virtual memory. If you delete files, empty the recycle bin to ensure that the space is physically freed up.
- Use the disk cleanup utilities in the operating system to remove unnecessary files.
- Use a third-party utility to convert the volume to the recommended cluster size.
Step 3: Check the Windows Services console. Check that these services are set accordingly (SR depend on these services):
- Windows Event Log = Automatic
- Plug and Play = Automatic
- Remote Procedure Call (RPC) = Automatic
- Virtual Disk = Manual.
